Union Street Garage was purchased in 1987 by Steve Owen, and then Karen Bavastock joined the business full time in 2001.
Union Street Garage became a VOSA approved Test Station in 2001 at the time when Karen joined the business.
Steve Owen is a VOSA approved MOT Tester of Class 4 vehicles. He took over the business in 1987 and is currently the Workshop Manager. He carries out all MOT Tests, along with servicing and repairs of vehicles.
Karen Bavastock is currently the Site Manager. She is responsible for the management of the office as well as stock control, finances and is involved in all aspects of running the business. Karen previously had a career in training and is currently a Town Councillor for Bishop’s Castle as well as being the Mayor of Bishop’s Castle since May 2013.
The Garage was pleased to donate an MOT to the Easter Raffle at Bishops Castle Primary School (March 2016) as well as give draw prizes to many local businesses
The business endeavours whenever possible to support local causes and charities. Both Karen and Steve are founder members of Longmynd Vintage Vehicle Club and through the club have supported a number of activities which have resulted in the club raising money for local charities.
The garage has also provided donation of some fuel to our valuable Bishops Castle First Responders vehicle to ensure it is mobile and able to assist in local emergencies.
Pictured here is Karen Bavastock (Site Manager of Union Street Garage) presenting a cheque to representatives of the local First Responders Mary Pullen and Dawn Bush. Karen was then Chairman of Longmynd Vintage Vehicle Club and the business supported and sponsored some of the fundraising activities which resulted in this cheque presentation to this very worthwhile local cause. Also pictured are representatives from the Longmynd Vintage Vehicle Club Jackie Llewellyn along with Maggie and Jodie Griffiths.
